Fr. McKenna, Gates pastor, releases revised canon law book

Father Kevin McKenna, pastor of St. Theodore Parish in Gates, has released a revised edition of his book, A Concise Guide to Canon Law: A Practical Handbook for Pastoral Ministers.

For more than 20 years, A Concise Guide to Canon Law has provided priests, deacons, and lay pastoral ministers with essential information about Catholic Church rules that regularly impact the lives of everyday Catholics. This updated edition now includes the teachings of Popes Benedict XVI and Francis on such issues as marriage and annulment; a new chapter on Catholic funerals; and information about the role of sacramentals as well as the ministry of catechist. Canon lawyer Aldean Hendrickson, director of the tribunal for the Diocese of New Ulm, has updated this practical guide with new material as well.

The book is available through Ave Maria Press. For ordering information, visit avemariapress.com.

Father McKenna is past chancellor for the Diocese of Rochester and also served as president of the Canon Law Society of America.
