No Friday-night cheeseburgers or pepperoni pizza for a few more weeks yet, so in these days of Lenten fasting and abstinence I was wondering about your no-meat Friday faves. The U.S. bishops have some interesting info on their site about Lent, what we do and why we do it. For example it’s not just that Friday fasting is nice alliteration, but that Jesus died on a Friday so we fast as a small sacrifice to remember his BIG sacrifice. Interesting, huh?
But back to the food: Even though I’m definitely a fan of the classic tuna melt and I like a fish fry as much as anybody, I got hooked on fish sticks as a little kid and still enjoy that eat-with-your-hands crunchy goodness more than anything. What about you? Does your family have any Lenten traditions when it comes to Friday-night dinner? Are you a grilled cheese and tomato soup eater, or do you go more in the broiled scallops direction?
