Gala dinners support U.S.’s elderly religious

Support Our Aging Religious will celebrate its 20th anniversary with a gala dinner Oct. 4 at Tavern on the Green in New York City. Gala dinners also will be held Oct. 7 at the Grand Hyatt Hotel in Washington, D.C., and Nov. 4 at the Hyatt Regency Irvine in Irvine, Calif.

At the New York City gala, Joseph P. Delaney, an 18-year SOAR volunteer and member of the group’s board of directors, will be honored with the St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Award. Dr. John DeGioia and his wife, Theresa Miller DeGioia, will be honored at the Oct. 7 dinner, and Patrick D. Powers will be honored at the Nov. 4 dinner.

A nonprofit organization, SOAR was founded in August 1986 and is dedicated to financially supporting elderly members of Catholic religious congregations. The money raised during the three upcoming dinners will be used to help SOAR meet the daily needs of the more than 40,000 Catholic religious over the age of 70 in the United States.
