Catholic Charities of the Finger Lakes’ annual Empty Bowls events will take place Oct. 19 and 26 in Auburn and Geneva, respectively.
The events are intended to raise awareness of and financial support for the agency’s hunger-relief programs and services, which include the Geneva Community Lunch Program.
The Oct. 19 event will take place at the Our Lady of Peace parish center, located on Center Street in Geneva, and the Oct. 26 event will take place in the parish hall of Sacred Heart Church, located at 90 Melrose Road in Auburn. Both evenings will begin at 5 p.m.
Each guest will enjoy a dinner of soup, bread, dessert and a drink and will receive a handmade pottery bowl created and donated by a local artist. The bowls are intended to serve as reminders that hunger is present in the local community, and guests will learn about the agency’s anti-poverty efforts during the dinner.
Tickets for adults may be purchased for $20 apiece and tickets for children may be purchased for $10 apiece. Proceeds will benefit Catholic Charities of the Finger Lakes’ programs. Tickets may be purchased online at catholiccharitiesfl.org.
