Geneva students celebrate St. Joseph, donate to food pantry

Students at St. Francis-St. Stephen School in Geneva recently honored St. Joseph with a food drive to benefit the Geneva Food Pantry.

Italian immigrants to the United States brought with them the tradition of honoring the saint’s day with St. Joseph’s Tables. The March 19 feast day fell on a Saturday this year, so on March 21, St. Francis-St. Stephen students dressed in red, white and green — the colors of the Italian flag — and brought in boxes of pasta and jars of sauce. At the end of their successful food drive, students delivered more than 60 pounds of pasta, 28 jars of sauce and 12 boxes of macaroni and cheese for the food pantry.
