A golf tournament to help send a terminally ill Greece man to California will take place Saturday, Aug. 11, at Deerfield Country Club, 100 Craig Hill Drive, Brockport.
Mark Metzger, 40, who attended Catholic schools including Aquinas Institute, has been told he is not a suitable candidate for the heart and lung transplant he needs to live. He has told friends and family he has a dream of going to California, but travel expenses, accommodations and the need for oxygen throughout the trip have put that dream financially out of reach, according to the tournament’s Web site, www.flightforadream.com
The tournament will begin with registration at noon and a shotgun start at 1 p.m. A sit-down buffet dinner at the Hilton Exempts will take place at 6:30 p.m. A golf package of 18 holes of golf, a cart, lunch and dinner is $60.
