Several Southern Tier parishes are planning golf tournaments in September.
Horseheads’ St. Mary Our Mother will hold its second-annual event Sept. 16 at Soaring Eagles Golf Club. The tournament will employ a scramble format, with a shotgun start at 8:30 a.m. Following the tournament there will be a picnic lunch — open to non-golfers as well — on the parish and school grounds of St. Mary Our Mother. Call the parish at 607/739-3817 for details. Sponsors also are being sought for the tournament. Those interested may e-mail Brad Clark at bcservman@stny.rr.com.
Also on Sept. 16, Our Lady of the Valley in western Steuben County will put on a “golf extravaganza” at Twin Hickory Golf Club. Proceeds will be shared between the parish and St. Ann School in Hornell. The tournament will begin in the early morning and include a “captain and crew” format, lunch, special hole-in-one prizes and other prizes. Call 607/324-0410 for more information.
On Sept. 17, the Tompkins County parishes of All Saints in Lansing, Holy Cross in Dryden and St. Anthony in Groton will have a tournament at Groton’s Stonehedges Golf Course. The tournament will be a captain-and-crew format and will be followed by a meal. Call George Muller at 607/844-9522 for details.
