Rochester’s Catholic Family Center has been awarded $2.4 million in federal and state grants to support local immigrants seeking naturalization and citizenship and to provide job-skill training to immigrants and refugees.
CFC received the following grants:
• A $225,000 three-year grant from the U.S. Department of Homeland Security to fund a Rochester Citizenship Education &Training Project that began Oct. 1. The project is a partnership between CFC and adult-education centers to promote citizenship and naturalization.
• A $250,000 award from the Office of Refugee Resettlement, part of the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, to develop and operate a Career Pathways program for refugees in Monroe County in conjunction with other local workforce development and anti-poverty initiatives.
• A New York State Refugee Social Services Program grant worth up to $1.8 million over five years beginning Jan. 1, 2019. The grant money will be used to provide employment services and job training to refugees and immigrants.
