Head of St. James Mercy Hospital departs

Mary E. LaRowe, president and chief executive officer of St. James Mercy Hospital in Hornell since 2007, resigned from her position effective Aug. 16. She has been replaced by Jennifer L. Sullivan, the hospital’s chief financial officer, on an interim basis.

"During her tenure with St. James Mercy Hospital, Mary has been a mission-driven leader who worked to improve quality and safety and build strong relationships with colleagues, patients and the community," John Capasso, executive vice president of Catholic Health East-Trinity, said in a statement.

St. James Mercy is a member of CHE-Trinity, a national health system.

"The SJMH board of directors is grateful for Mary’s leadership and service during a time of challenge and change, with the advent of health-care reform, and we wish her well in future endeavors," Sister Fran Wegman, RSM, chair of St. James Mercy’s board of directors, added in a statement. "We are looking forward to working with Jen Sullivan as we lead St. James Mercy Hospital forward in support of our mission to provide quality, accessible health-care services in the Hornell community."

Sullivan has worked for St. James Mercy since 2003 and has more than 20 years of experience in finance and operations management.
