St. Joseph School in Auburn is sponsoring an upcoming event that will honor veterans and community members’ loved ones while raising money for the school at the same time.
The 2010 Field of Hopes and Dreams will be on display in Auburn’s Hoopes Park from May 28-31 and is part of the Healing Field program run by the Colonial Flag Foundation. Hundreds of U.S. flags will be on display in the park and will fly as a patriotic tribute to hopes and dreams and as a celebration of freedom. Each flag measures 3 feet by 5 feet and will fly on an 8-foot pole.
Individuals and families may participate in the event by purchasing flags in honor of veterans, family members or loved ones currently serving in the military, or in memory of deceased loved ones. People who purchase flags may keep both the flags and the poles once they’re taken down the evening of May 31.
Flags may be purchased for $35, and all proceeds benefit St. Joseph School. Flags must be ordered by mid-April.
