Help is still needed for flooding victims

Tioga Outreach Center, a division of Catholic Charities, is requesting assistance for Tioga County residents who still are suffering the effects of last June’s flooding of the Susquehanna River.

The outreach center noted that numerous families and individuals remain displaced, with many in trailers or campers that are not designed for winter. Or, they are in their own homes but have no heat, due to furnace damage incurred during the flood.

Requests are being issued for area residents to consider taking in displaced families and/or individuals during the winter months. Help also can be provided by lending expertise toward fixing furnaces as well as other repair and cleanup work, so that people can return to their homes.

Those who wish to assist are invited to call Tioga Outreach Center at 607/565-7580 or 866/326-1373.
