Help schools remain open

To the editor:

On Wednesday, Feb 3, St. Rita’s staff and 420 students invited senior citizens to a celebration of Catholic Schools Week. In our world, where prayer and God take a back seat; we were thrilled as all 420 students sang a prayer with hand motions. We, the older generation, pledged money to build the schools and gave our all so our children could attend a school where all major subjects are taught; but especially prayer. We have 10 children that graduated from St. Rita’s and we still enjoy visiting our school. We need the remaining schools that are left. Turn them over to the parish but let the November appeal be our pledge to our schools. This is for all parishes with a school. Churches are being closed for lack of priests; St. Rita’s has a devoted and loyal staff — no reason to close.

Please remember the Diocese didn’t build these schools; we did. Now we ask you to keep our school open. Webster’s slogan is "Where Life is Worth Living." That slogan applies to our school. "We pledged to see you built — let us pledge to keep the doors open."
