Good Shepherd Parish in Henrietta will host a six-week series of training sessions this spring for people who are interested in visiting homebound or hospitalized parishioners.
The sessions will be held from 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday evenings from April 2 through May 7 at in Room 111 at Good Shepherd School, 3288 E. Henrietta Road in Henrietta.
The training sessions will provide an introduction to pastoral visitation and then cover such topics as how to visit both homebound and hospitalized parishioners, how to pray, communications, the theology of suffering, the spirituality of the minister and Creating a Safe Environment training. Participants also will learn how to listen, what not to say, how to distribute Communion and how to answer difficult questions.
