Bishop Sheen Ecumenical Housing Foundation Inc. was one of eight nonprofit organizations to recently receive grants from the Rochester Area Community Foundation and the Wayne County Community Endowment Advisory Committee.
The grants, which were presented during a May 16 reception, were awarded to organizations that serve the Wayne County community. The Rochester Area Community Foundation and the Wayne County Community Endowment Advisory Committee gave out a total of $29,490 in grant money.
Bishop Sheen Ecumenical Housing Foundation Inc., which is affiliated with the Diocese of Rochester, received a grant for $5,000. The foundation provides safe, decent and affordable housing to families, seniors, veterans and people with disabilities who have very low to moderate incomes. The foundation will use the grant money to support housing repair services for low-income families with at-risk children.
