Irish fest to be held at Hibernian Center

The annual Elmira Hibernians’ Irish Festival will take place Saturday Sept. 22, from noon to 11 p.m. at the Hibernian Center, corner of West Miller and Kinyon streets, on Elmira’s south side.

The event will feature an entire day of Irish music and dancing outdoors on the Hibernian stage, highlighted by the popular Irish band The Town Pants. Musical schedule is as follows: 1 to 2 p.m., Kilrush band; 2 to 3 p.m., Ring of Kerry Irish Dancers, featuring 60 young ladies performing assorted Irish dances; 3 to 5 p.m., The Stoutmen; 5 to 6 p.m., bagpipe band including many Elmira Hibernian members; 6 to 8 p.m., Pat Kane and the West o’Clare Band; and 8 to 11 p.m., The Town Pants.

Food and beverage will be available throughout the day. Corned beef and cabbage, prepared and served by the Ladies Ancient Order of Hibernians, will be served inside the Hibernian clubhouse in the afternoon. Those attending may wish to bring lawn chairs, as seating may be limited.

This serves as the major fundraiser for the John J. Lee Division No. 1 of the Ancient Order of Hibernians. For more details on the festival, call Dick Dalton at 607-733-9044 or visit
