This week, Catholic schools throughout our diocese are joining with others across the nation to celebrate Catholic Schools Week. The week will be filled with events in which teachers, parents, staff and especially our students express their pride in being part of a Catholic school community that continues to successfully unite faith, values and academic excellence.
This issue of the Catholic Courier highlights some of the "good news" that is occurring in our classrooms on a daily basis. Please take the opportunity to visit the Catholic school nearest you to learn more about our faith-filled classrooms, state-of-the-art technology, security, and superbly devoted teachers, administrators and staff. You can find a listing of our schools at www.discoverdorschools.org.
What you will find in our classrooms, from our full-time kindergarten classes on up, are children preparing to take their place in the church and world. They will be well-versed in the latest technological advances and have the skills to be effective leaders. Most importantly, their education will be rooted in the Gospel, providing them with the capability to become effective, strong, moral and ethical adults.
Our congratulations to those parents and guardians who have chosen Catholic schools for their children. You have made a sound investment in their future that will serve these young people throughout their lifetime and will make a difference in our world as well.
If your children are not already enrolled, please consider giving them the gift of a Catholic-school education, a gift that lasts a lifetime.
May God continue to bless you and your families.
The Most Reverend Salvatore R. Matano
Bishop of Rochester
Anthony S. Cook III
Superintendent of Catholic Schools
