Several 50th-anniversary jubilee events are planned for the 2005-06 school year at Elmira Notre Dame High School.
Festivities will kick off with a ‘50s-‘60s sock hop from 7 p.m. to midnight on July 30 at the Wings of Eagles Discovery Center in Horseheads. The dance will include music by Shama Lama, a Rochester-based band, and food from Bernie Murray’s. Tickets are $35 each, and a cash bar will be available.
Other planned 50th-anniversary activities are:
* A jubilee Mass on Sunday, Sept. 11, at 12:30 p.m. in the school auditorium, with Bishop Matthew H. Clark presiding.
* A homecoming football game on Friday, Oct. 7. Game time is 7:30 p.m. against Chenango Forks, with a reception to follow in the school cafeteria.
* A lecture by Mercy Sister Camille D’Arienzo, a noted anti-violence activist from Brooklyn. She will speak on Feb. 11, 2006, at 7 p.m. in the school auditorium.
* A closing Mass in the auditorium on June 10, 2006, followed by a barbecue.
