Jubilee events slated at Elmira Notre Dame

Several 50th-anniversary jubilee events are planned for the 2005-06 school year at Elmira Notre Dame High School.

Festivities will kick off with a ‘50s-‘60s sock hop from 7 p.m. to midnight on July 30 at the Wings of Eagles Discovery Center in Horseheads. The dance will include music by Shama Lama, a Rochester-based band, and food from Bernie Murray’s. Tickets are $35 each, and a cash bar will be available.

Other planned 50th-anniversary activities are:

* A jubilee Mass on Sunday, Sept. 11, at 12:30 p.m. in the school auditorium, with Bishop Matthew H. Clark presiding.

* A homecoming football game on Friday, Oct. 7. Game time is 7:30 p.m. against Chenango Forks, with a reception to follow in the school cafeteria.

* A lecture by Mercy Sister Camille D’Arienzo, a noted anti-violence activist from Brooklyn. She will speak on Feb. 11, 2006, at 7 p.m. in the school auditorium.

* A closing Mass in the auditorium on June 10, 2006, followed by a barbecue.

VIP passes are available to ensure admission and preferred seating to all these events. For details, call the high school’s advancement office at 607/734-2267 or order online at www.notredamehighschool.com.
