Catholic Charities Steuben/Livingston has announced that its community kitchen program recently served its 10,000th meal.
Since opening in December 2025, the community kitchen has provided hot, nutritious meals as well as hospitality to individuals and families in need. The kitchen has two sites: at 12 Allen St., Hornell, and 23 Liberty St., Bath. Current hours are Tuesdays from 2 to 4 p.m. (takeout only, while supplies last.) There are no requirements; all individuals and families are welcome.
“Our mission is rooted in serving others and recognizing the dignity of every person,” Amy Patterson, operations director, said in a statement. “The fact that we have provided more than 10,000 meals in just a few months demonstrates both the need that exists and the power of a community coming together to respond.”
“Reaching 10,000 meals served is an incredible testament to the compassion and generosity of our community,” Wendy Recktenwald, executive director of Catholic Charities Steuben/Livingston, added in a statement. “Every meal represents a person who was welcomed with dignity, kindness, and hope. We are grateful to our volunteers, supporters and partners whose dedication allows us to continue serving our neighbors facing food insecurity.”
Catholic Charities welcomes additional volunteers and community support. For more information, email amy.patterson@dor.org or visit ccsteubenlivingston.org.
