Knights gather in Albany

A Penfield man is leading the New York State Council of the Knights of Columbus in a prayer rally today on the steps of the New York State Capitol.

Knights of Columbus State Deputy Arthur J. Harris is leading the ninth-annual Prayer Rally. Harris, of Penfield, has held the Knight’s highest state office since 2009 and also is a founding member of the Msgr. Richard K. Burns Council No. 11749 at St. Thomas the Apostle Church in Irondequoit.

According to a press release from organizers, the rally aims to petition state legislators to listen to the concerns of Catholics who believe in the sanctity of human life from conception to natural death, who advocate for assistance to parochial schools and Catholic health care, and who believe that marriage should be between a man and a woman.

Organizers said they hope to draw thousands of Knights from across New York state.
