The Blessed Damien of Molokai Council of the Knights of Columbus of St. Anne Church and Our Lady of Lourdes Church is sponsoring a public recitation of the rosary at 7:30 p.m. Thursday, May 31, at St. Anne Church, 1600 Mt. Hope Ave., Rochester. The aim is to increase the amount of vocations to the priesthood in the diocese.
The five-decade rosary will be prayed according to the format recommended by the late Pope John Paul II and will feature the luminous mysteries that he introduced. Each mystery will be introduced by a meditation from Scripture and will be followed by a reflection. The reflections will be given by the council’s founding chaplain, Father Frank E. Lioi, who is pastor of St. Mary Church in Auburn. Local Catholic schools also have been invited to participate; one has agreed to have its entire student body pray the luminous mysteries on the afternoon of May 31.
