Large collections help toward relief

Several Southern Tier parishes have continued to bring in sizeable collections toward Hurricane Katrina relief efforts:

* St. Anthony/St. Patrick in Elmira has raised more than $9,000 in free-will offerings, along with a 10-percent contribution in proceeds from its annual bazaar.

* St. Gabriel’s in Hammondsport has collected a total of $2,308. In addition, the Steuben County parish is appropriating another $2,500 from profit made on its summer festival.

* Ss. Peter and Paul in Elmira raised nearly $2,300 in a free-will collection taken the weekend of Sept. 17-18.

* St. Mary’s in Bath has brought in a total of $2,126.
