Interfaith Action and Cortland Interfaith Sponsoring Committee celebrated the U.S. Senate’s March 26 vote to reauthorize the State Children’s Health Insurance Program, which provides $50 billion in federal funding for health insurance to cover 6.5 million children nationwide.
The program funds New York state’s Child Health Plus program, which helps an estimated 385,000 New York children. Advocates are now pressing the House of Representatives to pass companion legislation.
