The “St. Patrick’s Day Four” will make a presentation on Wednesday, Sept. 14, at 7:30 p.m. at the St. Catherine of Siena Parish Center, 302 Saint Catherine Circle, Ithaca.
Featured speakers will be four Catholic Worker activists from Ithaca who, on the day before commencement of the war on Iraq, walked into a military recruiting center and poured their own blood around the vestibule.
Their trial, on charges of conspiracy, will begin Sept. 19 in U.S. Federal Court in Binghamton. If convicted, they face up to six years in prison and $275,000 in fines.
Also speaking on Sept. 14 will be Sister of St. Joseph Patricia Schoelles, president of St. Bernard’s School of Theology and Ministry, who will discuss civil disobedience within the Roman Catholic tradition.
The event is sponsored by St. Catherine Parish and Catholic Charities of Tompkins/Tioga. For additional information, call 607/273-6121.
