Lecture to focus on modern saints, heroes

Bill Cook, a professor at SUNY Geneseo, will give a presentation about modern-day saints and heroes, such as Mother Teresa and Father Damian of Molokai, at St. John’s School in Clyde at 6 p.m. Nov. 11.

Cook’s presentation will be the third installment in this year’s Family Education Program, which is sponsored by St. John the Evangelist Parish in Clyde and St. Patrick Parish in Savannah. There will be a presentation each month through April, and future presenters include Father George Heyman, director of continuing education and part-time professor at St. Bernard’s School of Theology and Ministry in Pittsford; Father Kevin McKenna, pastor of St. Cecilia Parish in Irondequoit and past president of the Canon Law Society of America; and Deacon George Dardess, deacon at Blessed Sacrament Parish in Rochester and a pioneer in Muslim-Catholic relations.

The presentation is free and open to the public, and will end at 7:30 p.m. Refreshments will be served.
