Lenten series set for Wednesdays in Elmira

A Lenten adult-formation series has been scheduled at the parish center of St. Anthony Church in Elmira, 209 Front St. (off College Avenue just north of Washington Avenue). It will be held over four Wednesdays, running from 7 to 8:30 p.m. each night.

The first two sessions, on Feb. 28 and March 7, will focus on the Gospel of Matthew and then on the Gospel of John. Both will be presented by Dan Hull, director of continuing education for St. Bernard’s School of Theology and Ministry in Pittsford.

The March 14 gathering, on praying the Scriptures, will be presented by Deacon George Welch, chaplain at St. Joseph’s Hospital. Finally, on March 21, Father John Firpo will present “I Can’t. God Can. So Let Him.” Father Firpo is pastor of St. Helen Parish in Gates, near Rochester.
