To the editor:
This is in reference to Susan D’Arienzo’s May letter to the editor, “Rejects idea that divorced means bad.”
Having read Ms. D’Arienzo’s response to my original letter (March 4, “Upset over story, column”), I was lead to review it and find absolutely no instance where I define or judge divorced Catholics as “bad” Catholics or “bad” persons. Civil divorce in itself is not an impediment to a good Catholic life. However, a Catholic who is divorced and remarries outside of the church, as (may be the case with) John Kerry, contravenes God’s law and so is not in accord with the Catholic church.
