Lithuanian church in Rochester plans centennial events

Rochester’s St. George Church, a Lithuanian parish, will celebrate its 100th anniversary Oct. 10-12.

The event will begin with an evening for renewing friendships Oct. 10. It will be followed by a reception and banquet at the Rochester Riverside Convention Center Oct. 11 and will conclude with a 10:30 a.m. Mass Oct. 12 at the church, 545 Hudson Ave.

The church’s highlights include a community choir called Putinas; the local Lithuanian radio show Dainos Aidas, and such groups as Scouts, folk dancing, theatrical ensembles and literary clubs.

Past and present parishioners are invited to attend the anniversary events. For details, contact Birute Litvinas at 585-342-9468.
