St. Anthony Parish in Groton celebrated its patron saint with both a Mass and supper right on St. Anthony’s feast day, Saturday, June 13.
Many loaves of St. Anthony Bread, provided by parishioners, were blessed during the 4:30 p.m. liturgy. The loaves were then shared at a dish-to-pass supper that followed in McNamara Hall.
A special unveiling of the cornerstone from the original St. Anthony Church took place at the supper. In addition, nonperishable items were brought to the event and donated to the local food pantry.
