Several events have been scheduled at Southern Tier churches in conjunction with the Oct. 4 feast day of St. Francis of Assisi, patron saint of animals and the environment.
St. Francis of Assisi Church, Catatonk, will hold a Mass at 11 a.m. on Oct. 4 followed by lunch in the church hall. Call 607-687-1068 to RSVP.
Pet blessings will take place at the following locations: St. Mary of the Lake, Watkins Glen (10th street entrance of the parish center), Sept. 30 at 12:30 p.m.; St. Mary Our Mother Church, Horseheads (east parking lot), Oct. 4 at 6 p.m.; All Saints Academy, Corning, Oct. 4 at 2:45 p.m.; Immaculate Heart of Mary Church, Painted Post, Oct. 4 at 5:30 p.m.; St. Joseph Church, Campbell, Oct. 4 at 5:30 p.m.; St. Stanislaus Church, Bradford, Oct. 4 at 6:30 p.m.; and St. Catherine of Siena Church, Addison, Oct. 7 at 2 p.m.
