Livonia parishioner becomes candidate in Sisters of Mercy

• Barbara Giehl, a parishioner in the cluster of St. Mary, Honeoye/St. Matthew, Livonia, became a candidate in the Sisters of Mercy during a ceremony March 3 at the Mercy Center in Brighton. She is a mother, grandmother, registered nurse and longtime Mercy Associate. At St. Mary/St. Matthew, she has been active as an extraordinary minister of holy Communion. Her candidacy will last two years, during which time she will reside in Philadelphia and continue making medical mission trips on behalf of the Mercy order.
