DeSales High School, 90 Pulteney St., Geneva, will host the Finger Lakes-area Catholic schools’ annual Oratorical Contest May 31 at 7 p.m.
Separate contests for fifth- and sixth-grade students and for seventh- and eighth-grade students will take place at that time. Each student’s speech will address at least one of several questions, which were chosen by St. Michael School in Newark. The questions are:
* What obstacles do you face as a Catholic youth in the year 2006?
* How are you able to overcome these obstacles?
* How do these obstacles make you stronger and enrich your life?
* How can you help other Catholic children promote and live their own faith?”
A panel of judges will award prizes to the winners at the end of the evening. The event is free and open to the public.
