Father Isaac Slater, OCSO, who serves as prior at Abbey of the Genesee in Piffard, and Michael Sauter, retreat-house coordinator for the abbey, both have made contributions to the newly launched publication Jesus the Imagination: A Journal of Spiritual Revolution.
Father Slater — writing under the name John Slater — has three poems in the inaugural edition, which is published by New York City-based Angelico Press. The issue also features an essay by Sauter on the relevance to the Catholic Church of the works of an English writer, John Cowper Powys (1872-1963).
Jesus the Imagination, containing a mixture of writings and artwork, was conceived last year in an effort to establish “the regeneration of Christian art and culture” according to the Angelico Press website.
