The coffee table book The Light Within: A Spiritual Journey in Stained Glass Windows will be published this month by St. Mary Church in Rochester. The book, which was photographed, designed and written by St. Mary parishioners, is a celebration of the church through its stained-glass windows. The book was photographed by Steve Labuzetta and John Myers, designed by Patti Keirsbilck Sawyer and written by Lorraine Woerner-MacGowan.
Gloria Paris, a parishioner of St. Patrick Church in Seneca Falls, published her autobiography, A Child of Sanitariums: A Memoir of Tuberculosis Survival and Lifelong Disability.
Jim Neary, music director of the Newman Center at SUNY Brockport, released the CD "Heart, Soul and Mind," which features a collection of songs Neary has written over the years. Proceeds from the sale of the CD will benefit the Brockport Newman Center’s student programming.
Victor attorney Angelo Rose, a parishioner of St. Louis in Pittsford and a 1986 graduate of McQuaid Jesuit High School, teamed up with the Nazareth Children’s Choir from Nazareth Elementary School to record Rose’s song "Under a Mango Tree." Sales of the song have raised more than $11,000 for emergency relief efforts in Haiti following the devastating January 2010 earthquake in that country.
Clyde musicians Nancy and John Bryan, who are parishioners of St. John the Evangelist in Clyde, produced an album titled "The Pilgrim." A portion of proceeds from the album’s sale benefits Catholic Charities of Wayne County. The album features Nancy Bryan on lead vocals, and backup vocalists include members of St. John the Evangelist Church’s choir.
