Soraya Ford, a 26-year employee of St. Joseph’s Hospital in Elmira, is the winner of the hospital’s 2007 Oppy Award. This honor is given to a St. Joseph’s employee who displays friendly service, courtesy and good will.
Ford began as executive secretary in the nursing department and currently is the administrative assistant for administration. According to a press release announcing the award, she is known by her coworkers as “a hard worker who never turns down an assignment. She always has the best interest of St. Joseph’s in all she does and embodies the mission of the hospital. Even with the constant interruptions in her day, she stays on top of her assignments and has a great attitude and work ethic. She truly cares about each person she has contact with and how their day is doing.”
