A women’s group that features meals, fellowship, worship, prayer and testimony from Catholics about their faith will celebrate its 10th anniversary in December.
Social worker Betsy MacKinnon will speak at the Magnificat Rochester 10th-anniversary breakfast, which runs from 8:30 a.m. to noon Saturday, Dec. 12, at the RIT Inn and Conference Center, 5257 W. Henrietta Road, Henrietta.
MacKinnon is an advocate for the poor and has helped the homeless for more than two decades in Albany, Harlem and Rochester. She is in private practice at Therapy Works Wonders! and facilitates the post-abortion Rachel’s Vineyard Retreats in the diocese.
Magnificat Rochester hosts four breakfasts a year, and draws women from throughout the diocese, said Magnificat Rochester coordinator Jane Jennings, who attends St. Pius Tenth Parish in Chili. Women of other faiths also are welcome, as are Spanish speakers.
The breakfasts help encourage women to live their lives fully with the Holy Spirit, Jennings said. "It meets the need we have to gather together with people to share our experiences."
Register for the Dec. 12 breakfast by Monday, Dec. 7. Tickets are $15 and $10 for students. Clergy and religious can attend for free.
