More than 70 people gathered on July 10 at St. Mary’s Southside Church in Elmira to hear Deacon George Dardess speak about the shared Muslim-Catholic commitment to social justice.
Deacon Dardess, who serves at Blessed Sacrament Parish in Rochester, is a pioneer in building relationships between Christians and Muslims. He is author of several books about the Catholic and Muslim faiths, including his latest, Do We Worship The Same God?: The Qur’an and the Bible Compared.His appearance was sponsored by Catholic Charities of the Southern Tier as part of its Summer 2007 Justice and Peace Program.
