Mary’s Lourdes statement proved theological, biological truths

To the editor:

When the Blessed Mother identified herself in Lourdes with the announcement, “I am the Immaculate Conception,” she was confirming two truths. Primarily, that she had been conceived immaculately — divinely preserved from Original Sin. But secondly, that a person exists from the very moment of his/her conception in the womb. Note her wording: not “I am the PRODUCT of the immaculate conception”, but, “I AM” that conception.

Conception in the human womb IS a person. With the wrongly decided — on legal grounds as well as moral — Roe v. Wade case, some politicians decided to ignore this reality of personhood at conception; today, they even deny it at birth!

Many good citizens have been deceived into believing that abortion does no harm and is a “right.” This deception comes from Planned Parenthood, the politicians whom they support and the media. But it’s time for Catholics to announce the truth: that abortion kills children who are pain-capable at just 12 weeks’ gestation. They officially and coldly refer to unborn children as POC — “product of conception.” But we know that a conception is a person, not a product!

Let us ponder the wonder of human conception. Let us inform ourselves on this most critical Christian issue, and ask God to lead us in righting this egregious wrong that is taking place every day in America.
