McQuaid names new middle-school head

Daniel P. Behan has been named as the new administrator of Rochester’s McQuaid Jesuit Middle School, effective July 1.

He replaces Joseph L. Marchese, who accepted a position as principal of La Salle College Preparatory School near Philadelphia. Marchese is probably best known in the community as coach of McQuaid Jesuit High School’s basketball team, which he led to state titles in 1988, 1997 and 2003.

Behan has been a teacher at McQuaid for 15 years. In his new position, he will be responsible for the day-to-day operations of the middle school and will continue to teach one section of English.

Behan has a master’s degree in education from Roberts Wesleyan College, and a bachelor’s degree in English and French from LeMoyne College.

He and his wife, Nancy, reside in Rochester with their two children.
