Melita House and Mercy Residential Services are celebrating their 30th anniversary of providing safe housing and support services to pregnant and parenting young women in the greater Rochester community with a Mass Oct. 2 and a reception Oct. 20.
Bishop Matthew H. Clark will celebrate the Mass at 4 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 2, at Sacred Heart Cathedral, 296 Flower City Park. A tour of the cathedral and a reception will follow immediately afterwards.
The celebration will continue at 5:30 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 20, at Rochester Museum and Science Center’s Strasenburgh Planetarium for a cocktail reception, silent auction and star show. Tickets are $35 Call 585-254-2175 or e-mail mdolan@mercyresidential.org for tickets.
Mercy Residential Service is a nonprofit ministry of the Sisters of Mercy that comprises Melita House, a transitional residence for young moms and their newborns; Families First, community housing for teen moms; Catherine McAuley apartments, supportive townhomes aimed at teaching parenting and independent-living skills; and emergency housing.
