A memorial Mass will be celebrated at Most Precious Blood Church, 219 Stenson St., Rochester, on Sunday, April 22, at 11:15 a.m. for Sister Miriam Suljak, ASC.
Sister Suljak, 89, died in her congregation’s health-care facility in Red Bud, Ill., on Nov. 12, 2006. She was principal of Most Precious Blood School from 1976-82.
Sister Suljak was born to a family of Croatian immigrants in St. Louis, Mo., in 1917. She entered the Adorers of the Blood of Christ following completion of eighth grade.
During her 71 years as a professed sister, she served as teacher, principal and parish-catechetical minister. In her retirement she was engaged in prison ministry, library work and tutoring and was a mentor to ASC Associates.
She is survived by her sisters, Helen Muich, Ann Elking and Marge Brennan; nieces and nephews; and the members of her congregation. A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated on Nov. 15, 2006, followed by burial in the community’s cemetery in Red Bud.
