Mendon discussion to focus on saving planet

Sue Staropoli will visit St. Catherine of Siena Parish, 26 Mendon-Ionia Road, Mendon on May 19 at 7 p.m. to lead a discussion about the interconnectedness of all life on Earth. The theme of the presentation will be "Save Our Fragile Planet."

Staropoli, who has a master’s degree in pastoral theology from St. Bernard’s School of Theology and Ministry, has made it her mission to help create an environmentally sustainable, spiritually fulfilling and socially just human presence on this planet. Her presentation will include information about the indigenous Achuar people of Ecuador’s Amazon rainforest, examine the current state of the world, and discuss signs of hope and ways to begin saving the planet. Staropoli, who also has a certificate in spiritual direction and retreat-giving from Creighton University, also will include time for small-group discussions.
