Sister Mary Justin Morris, RSM, died June 18, 2005, at the age of 95.
Sister Morris was born Anna Morris and entered the Sisters of Mercy from St. Vincent Parish, Corning, in 1928. She earned her undergraduate and graduate degrees at Nazareth College.
She taught in diocesan schools for 50 years, retiring in 1979. Among her teaching assignments were St. Salome and St. Thomas the Apostle, Irondequoit; Holy Cross, Charlotte; St. Andrew, St. John the Evangelist (Humboldt St.) and Our Lady of Mercy, all in Rochester; St. John, Clyde; and St. Rita, Webster. In her retirement she was active in fundraising for the congregation and, with the Humane Society, in finding placements for abandoned animals.
Sister Morris is survived by her nephew, Charles (Kay) Quinn of Vestal; her niece, Nancy (Lou) Kisner of Binghamton; her cousins in Hornell; and her sisters in the congregation.
Father Celestine Obi celebrated a Mass of Christian Burial in the motherhouse chapel on June 20, 2005. Burial was in Holy Sepulchre Cemetery.
