Middle-school students to hold can, bottle drives

Middle-school students from two local Catholic schools will be holding can and bottle drives Jan. 10.

Eighth-grade students from St. Francis-St. Stephen School in Geneva will be collecting cans and bottles between 9 a.m. and noon that day at DeSales High School, located at 90 Pulteney St. in Geneva. Proceeds from the drive will help defray the cost of the students’ trip to Washington, D.C., in the spring. Cans and bottles also may be brought to St. Francis-St. Stephen School, 17 Elmwood Ave., on Jan. 9. Students and parents also will pick up cans and bottles from individual’s homes if necessary. For more information, contact St. Francis-St. Stephen School at 315-789-1828.

Seventh- and eighth-grade students from Ss. Peter and Paul School in Auburn will hold their drive between 10 a.m. and noon Jan. 10 at the school, located at 134 Washington St. A portion of the proceeds will be used to fund the students’ class trip, and the rest of the proceeds will fund a charitable organization. For more information, contact the school at 315-252-5567.
