St. Catherine of Siena Parish in Ithaca is once again taking part in a social-ministry initiative that assists area migrant farm workers in the summer and fall.
Donations of medicinal items, such as aspirin, cold medicine and stomach-relief products, may be dropped off at the church entrance through the end of July. Also requested are slightly used kitchen items, linens and clothing. These goods will be forwarded to a migrant camp in King Ferry, Cayuga County. Volunteers are also needed to assist at the camp in various outreach capacities.
The project is overseen by the social-ministry committee at Good Shepherd Catholic Community in Cayuga County. St. Catherine’s Parish participated last year as well, gathering more than 300 medicinal products.
