Tioga County Rural Ministry has begun accepting sign-ups for holiday food baskets and gifts.
Thanksgiving and Christmas food baskets are available for any low- to moderate-income individual or family residing in Owego. Meanwhile, gift sign-up is for all Tioga County children (infants to age 18). All sign-ups must be completed by Oct. 16. TCRM also is seeking people interested in adopting families for the holidays. Potential sponsors should notify the ministry by Oct. 16.
In other TCRM news, the ministry received nearly 2,800 items in its recent “Soap for Hope” initiative that collected personal-care goods for area residents in need. Several churches, businesses and other organizations hosted collection bins for donations. In addition, the ministry provided 27 teens with clothing thanks to community support of the Back to School Program.
TCRM also has received a $7,000 grant from the Tioga County Senior Citizens Foundation. The funds will enable the ministry to address many basic needs of area seniors.
