Ministry seeks donations after burglary

Mary’s Place Refugee Outreach Center, 414 Lexington Ave., Rochester, has set up a GoFundMe account for donations after a burglary last weekend.

According to the ministry’s post on the GoFundMe website, the items taken from the center were for the upcoming Wine Tasting & Silent Auction. Those items included wine, gift cards and merchandise for the silent auction. All money raised through the GoFundMe account will be used to replace the items.

Tickets are still available for the Wine Tasting & Silent Auction, which will be held on Thursday, April 30, from 5:30 to 8 p.m. at a private residence on Lake Avenue. For more information, call 585-270-8628 or e-mail

Mary’s Place, which is the Cathedral Community’s refugee ministry, provides food, clothing, household goods, English language classes, preschool, case management, citizenship assistance, homework help, college preparation, community dinners and job training to newly arrived refugees.
