Missionary sister, Rochester native, at 95

Sister Pierre (Anne Marie) Fischette, a Holy Spirit Missionary Sister for 71 years, died April 1, 2006, at the Convent of the Holy Spirit in Techny, Ill.

Sister Fischette, 95, was born in Rochester, the oldest of six children. She was a graduate of Nazareth Academy and Nazareth College.

Her teaching and missionary work took her to Italy, China, the Philippines and Ghana. She then used her knowledge of languages doing translations for her multilingual congregation.

Sister Fischette was predeceased by her brother, Basilian Father Robert Fischette. She is survived by her brothers Joseph A., Bernard, Richard (Angeline) and John F. Fischette.

A memorial Mass was celebrated at St. Salome Church in Rochester on May 11, 2006.
