The Discalced Carmelite sisters at the Monastery of Our Lady and St. Joseph, 1931 W. Jefferson Road, Pittsford, will celebrate the one-year anniversary of the monastery’s reopening with an 8 a.m. Mass Oct. 15. Visiting Carmelite priest Father John of the Trinity will celebrate the Mass.
In 2003 seven Rochester Discalced Carmelites moved to the nearby Sisters of St. Joseph Motherhouse and planned to sell the property. The property did not sell, and last year 11 Discalced Carmelite sisters from Schenectady moved to the monastery along with most of the Rochester sisters.
