Naples church to host inaugural 5K

The inaugural St. J’s 5K Run and Walk will be held at 8:30 a.m. April 28 in Naples and will benefit the Naples Ambulance Service.

The race will be hosted by St. Januarius Parish in Naples, which is part of Our Lady of the Lakes Catholic Community. The church, located at 180 N. Main St., also will serve as the registration site on the morning of the race. Runners and walkers will start out near the church, follow a figure-eight course through the Village of Naples and nearby Widmer Wines vineyard, and finish the race back at St. Januarius Church.

Those who register before April 18 will receive a St. J’s 5K T-shirt and will pay an entry fee of $16, with $15 fees for elementary, high-school and college students; active firefighters and emergency medical service personnel; and group registrations of two or more received together. All those who register after April 18 pay $18. Registrations also will be taken on race day until 8 a.m. for a fee of $20.

Awards will be given to the first-place overall male and female winners and to the first-, second- and third-place winners in a number of different age groups, as well as the first-place winner among the firefighters and emergency medical service personnel.
