New weekday and weekend Mass schedules have been set for the new Blessed Kateri Tekakwitha Parish in Irondequoit, which was formed July 1 and comprises Christ the King, St. Cecilia, St. Margaret Mary, St. Salome and St. Thomas the Apostle churches.
Saturday Masses are 4 p.m. at Christ the King, 4:30 p.m. at St. Margaret Mary and 5 p.m. at St. Cecilia. Sunday Masses are 7:30 and 10 a.m. at Christ the King; 8:30 and 10:30 a.m. at St. Cecilia; and 9 and 11 a.m. at St. Margaret Mary.
The weekend Mass schedule will begin the week of Sept. 25-26 with two exceptions: A 9:30 a.m. Mass will take place at St. Thomas the Apostle until Nov. 14. On Nov. 28, a 5 p.m. Mass will be added at Christ the King, and parish representatives hope to make this a special community Mass that could include elements designed for youths and young adults or that could include a periodic potluck supper.
"We were surprised by how many people indicated they would be interested in Sunday evening (Mass), and we looked at what we would do to make this more than a Mass of convenience," said Basilian Father Norman Tanck.
Weekday Masses also have been set and the schedule will begin Sept. 27. From Monday to Friday, Masses are 6:30 and 8 a.m. at Christ the King; 9 a.m. at St. Cecilia and 11:30 a.m. at St. Margaret Mary. Saturday-morning Masses will be 8 a.m. at Christ the King and 9:30 a.m. at St. Cecilia.
